... Study reveals how hormone links dating habits, att
14 January 2009

Women with high levels of a form of the female sex hormone oestrogen consider themselves to be more attractive and are more likely to be unfaithful and have multiple partners.

That is according to researchers from the University of Texas who found that women with elevated levels of oestradiol were likely to be less committed to their current lovers.

The research found that these women were likely to be involved in "opportunistic serial monogamy". In short, they were more inclined to be unfaithful.

Commenting on the findings of the study, Dr Kristina Durante, a psychologist and the author of the report, said: "Physically attractive women receive more male attention and, when in relationships, are more likely to be the targets of mate poaching."

She went on to explain that attractive women are seeking men with good genes as well as someone who will be able to provide for them.

They also look for "good parenting and partner skills" and this means they are less likely to be easily satisfied.

David Buss, psychology researcher at the university of Texas last year undertook research which revealed that women searching for long-term partners looked for good providers, while those seeking a short-term fling were more interested in physical attractiveness.ADNFCR-1043-ID-18973701-ADNFCR
