Cate Blanchett on love and why plastic surgery is 30 December 2008
Academy award-winning actress Cate Blanchett has spoken about the day her husband proposed to her and admitted that she knew she was going to marry him from the moment she met him.
Married to playwright Andrew Utpon, the 39-year-old explained to Vanity Fair that she "couldn't not" accept his marriage proposal.
Clearly very much in love, she explained how she felt when she was with him. She said it was like "this is extraordinary! I've never felt like this before. What an adventure"
.
There is one issue that could potentially cause a problem in the couple's relationship, however, and that is if the Benjamin Button star had plastic surgery.
She explained to Vanity Fair that her husband had said he would divorce her if she had any work done.
Blanchett, who has had three children with her husband, explained that her body has changed since childbirth and that there is now a "history to it".
Clearly happy with her partner's views on plastic surgery, Blanchett said: "I'm fortunate to be with somebody who likes the evolution of that history."
The couple met in 1996 while working together on a production of the Seagull and were married on December 29th 1997.
